What is the difference between Methodists and baptists?

Methodists have a method of doing things. Baptists baptize.

I am both, I have a method, and change my methods, developing new methods. I was water baptized & baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus shed His blood and washed my sins away.

Alot depends on the branch of Baptists you're thinking of. Some branches of the Baptists are very similar to Methodists, and some are very different. You should probably check out a source like Wikipedia to learn more about both denominations and to see how they differ on particular issues like baptism, communion, salvation, ethics, church structure, etc.

Also keep in mind the distinction between the historical practices/beliefs of Methodists and Baptists and their current beliefs and practices. Methodists have become very liberal in the past 30 or so years but historically Methodists have not been associated with leftist beliefs.

From a pragmatic standpoint, modern day Methodists tend to be more liberal than Baptists. But this can vary from church to church.

Go to each denomination's website and search for their fundamental beliefs. That's what I do when I want to learn what a denomination believes.

I think the methodits believein gifts of the spirit, but don't quote me on that.
