I am posting links to some stories of atheists who became Catholic Christians, including the famous actor Sir Alec Guiness. One if the story of an atheist who was also an abortionist. I hope the links help. A Google search will bring up plenty such stories for you.

Funny, while I know atheists who have converted to Christianity, I know many more former Christians who are now atheists. Bible scholar Bert Ehrman, now an atheist, was born again at age 17, graduated from Moody Bible college and got his doctorate in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was known as one of the world's most respected scholars on the New Testament, Christian Apologetics, and the history of the time Jesus was believed to live. Gradually, he discovered so many contradictions and outright forgeries in both the Old Testament and New Testament that he began to shift his views. He is not a dyed in the wool atheist. This proves 18th Century's (Jesuit-educated) atheist Denis Diderot's famous statement in 1746: "One day a man was asked if there were any true atheists. Do you think, he replied, there are any true Christians?"

I have seen many. I used to be a Eucharistic Minister. As such I gave communion to the sick and dying. I can tell you that I never encountered a so-called atheist who did not ask for a priest when in that situation. A chaplain in the Second Word War had the same experience. He said, "There are no atheists in foxholes."
Have a nice day!

I was an Atheist for 9 years, beginning at the age of 20. I hated the Christians especially the Fundamentalist who were so judgmental and had such insane ideas. I still get a little angry when I hear the things they say. I experienced a very unusual thing. If I tell you, you will not believe me. It sounds like a story. It happened on Christmas Eve 1975. Long story, but I prayed to a God I didn't believe in "dear God, if you exist, please help x, she believes in you.. please don't let her die tonight" as I stood by her bed in the hospital after she had stopped breathing. She did not breath for about 4 minutes and I was turning to get the nurses and tell them she had died. And she gasped for air and came back and told me about the woman in white that came to her. I knew something very strange had just happened. And some other things happened after that day to let me know that there was a God. I doubt many things, and I can let go of all of the theology, but I know one thing and one thing only... God is real.

Myself ... 10 years ago I became a born again bible believing Christian through research after following many different religions. That being said, I no longer go to church and have alot of unanswered questions and would now be called a backslidden Christian.

Me. I was Morman first then wicca, the Atheist and then christian. Well I kept feeling a presence around me when no human was around and I couldn't explain it. After the third time I almost died, I finally realized I needed a Savior and stated looking for a church to go to. I got saved in that church.

There are some high profile ones, but I think it's pretty uncommon. The most famous case would probably be Francis Collins. I don't know what's wrong with him.

I concur with the answer just before this. If an atheist converts to Christianity he has motives other than honesty and common-sense.
