Well, lets face it, biologically, guys' only purpose in life is to carry the human seed. However, I remember my biology teacher from high school saying that with technology today, such as artificial insemination, guys have technically become obsolete. Ladies, do you believe this? Does the world not need guys any more?

Actually, scientists can create sperm from embryonic stem cells, eliminating the need for a guy to produce them.

Men & women are different, and in general each sex is better at things the other sex is weaker at. So it is not just about planting seeds to grow more people, but the sexes balance each other out, and produce a more well-rounded child.
For example, men tend to encourage their children to achieve, excel, be independent, learn, make conquests, take risks, and strive to be the best at whatever they endeavor.
Women, on the other hand, are more nurturing, caring, loving, eager to do things for you, and ready to catch you when you fall from endeavors that you fail at.
Fathers are proudest, feeling that they have done a good job parenting, when their child proves itself to be capable.
Mothers have their self-worth tied up in being needed by their "babies". Rescuing their child makes them feel good about themselves, as they fulfill their "purpose" in life.
Too much fathering or mothering is not a good thing...a child is raised best with a balance of BOTH these parents traits influencing their lives: a man to push one out of the nest, and a woman to catch them if not yet able to fly.
Parenting is about alot more than donating sperm. But if you look at the world today, you wouldn't necessarily know that.

What about the matrix. All human life could be obsolete. And by the way we are destroying the planet each day, I hope it's very soon.

I don't think either sex will ever be obsolete... even if they can manufacture sperm or figure out how to have men carry babies. There's too much sexual energy that would have no where to go, and not everyone is attracted to members of their own sex.
