You shouldn't need contacts after lasik. That is why you do it.

You usually can't wear contacts after LASIK surgery. That's because the surgery changes the shape of the corneas slightly, and contacts are usually uncomfortable to wear. That's one of the known side effects of LASIK. It's kind of a trade off; if all goes well, you won't need contacts anymore, but if it doesn't, you'll be stuck with glasses.
As far as all the people who posted that you won't need correction after LASIK; well, that's what the patient hopes for. However, depending on how bad the eyes were previously, one may still need vision correction after LASIK (hopefully, much less correction than before!).

You shouldn't need to wear contact lenses at all if the Lasik surgery is successful. Your vision should be good enough not to need them.
Here's an article about what you should expect after Lasik surgery which may answer some of your questions.
Good luck!

Sometimes you do need correction after Lasik. I had Lasik 14 years ago and didn't have to wear contacts or glasses until about a year ago. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding contacts that work for me. They feel fine in my eyes, but the prescription that works in glasses doesn't work in contacts. It makes everything more blurry instead of clearer. I am trying different contacts/prescriptions to find a solution.

Lasik surgery corrects your vision to where you would no longer need contact lenses at all, but if you still have more questions, there is a good San Diego Lasik website. It has lots of info and some very informative Lasik articles. See the links below:

Not all patients attain perfect vision, you may still need contact lenses or glasses.Usually the prescription number changes gradually for teenagers and persons in their early twenties and then stabilizes..More detail at http://eye-care.in/lasikeyesurgery.html
