First of all, you are feeding your baby TOO MUCH! That's why he's spitting it up. My son is also bf with no bottles and he wasn't able to eat that much until he was about 9 months old. Maybe he isn't ready to eat all that much? Esp since he is still nursing so much.

I usually nurse my son for about 30 mins when he wakes up, feed him within 1 hr of waking. He takes a 1 hr nap about 3 hours after waking and eats again within 1 hr of waking. Naps again 3 hrs later, eats w/in 1 hr and goes to bed again about 3 hrs after that. That being said, he makes this schedule. With bf babies, they tend to eat when they are hungry. When your baby is acting hungry, feed him. Don't force him to eat. That can lead to food issues later, obesity, etc. Just feed him when he's hungry. Don't worry so much about the 3 squares and snacks bc he is still nursing a lot. When he starts refusing to nurse, feed him more.

Three meals a day plus two snacks is entirely too much food for a 7 month old. Until 12 months of age, breastmilk or formula should be the main source of nutrition (according to the American Academy of Pediatrics).

You should offer the breast first, wait a few minutes to allow the body to absorb as much of the nutrients and immunities from the breastmilk and then offer solids.

Really, until they're 12 months, solids are just for fun...to give them something different and to expose them to new textures, etc. We didn't start regularly giving our daughter solids until she was 13 months old. She just started eating 3 meals a day now, and she's 16 months. Sometimes she doesn't even want 3 meals.

Sounds like your feeding him too much. Hes only 7 months and should only be eating cereal up to 2 times a day, along with breast milk. Cut back with the food until he reaches around 11-12 months old.

at 7 months old, he should set the schedule. that's whwat i meant on the other answer. nurse him on demand - when he wants to nurse - and don't nurse him otherwise. his body, his appetite should be regulating when he eats, not some outside artificial schedule.

when he nurses, he is actually communicating his needs biochemically to your body and your body actually adjusts the composition of the milk to meet his changing needs. nursing on demand is the only way to make sure he's getting enough and not more than enough.
