The Glock is by far a much better handgun over all, first of all just ask you friend this one simple question, "What handgun is carried by more Agencies around the World... NON other...GLOCK!"
Taurus may have a lifetime warranty but that is it and the little 9mm don't have the knock-down power the 40cals got. The 40S&W is in the same class as the old 357 mag with 3x the round capacity.
I am a Lifetime member of GSSF and own 2-G35s (1 L/E & 1 Civilian model) and 1-G23. Next purchase will be a G22.

I thought all Glock 23's were .40? At least mine is. Are you sure you don't have a Glock 19, which is the same compact frame in 9mm?
Anyway, I would say that Glock is a better gun and more reliable. However, Taurus also makes good pistols. Glock is used by the military and most law enforcement, so that's one argument in favor of Glock. My brother-in-law has a Taurus and it's a good gun too. Taurus is about $100-$150 cheaper than Glock on most models.

Nothing wrong with a Glock 19. They're reliable and simple. It's also nice that you can conceal carry the 19 if you want to. That being said, if you're only going to use it while being an armed guard, you may want to opt for a little bigger version like the Glock 17. My personal preference would be that I'd rather have a Smith & Wesson M&P9 or a Ruger SR9 for several reasons. First, they're made in the U.S.A. and since I'm an American that matters to me. Second, both of those guns feel better in my hand. Third, acquiring a target is faster for me with both of those guns. Fourth, the grip on the glock forces fingers into a position whether you want them to go there or not. The SR9 is more in line with a Glock price, and S&W offers a SD9VE which is right about the same price as a Glock too, so if price is a huge issue you still have options. Finally, if I were going with a 9mm that's about the same size as the Glock that is not from an American comapny I would definitely go with the CZ P-07 Duty, but again... personal preference. For a nice set of things to thing about regarding S&W vs. Glock, check out the YouTube video below. Last but not least... there are a LOT of Glock guys out there. I have nothing against Glocks, but having shot other guns I simply prefer them to a Glock.

Both are good but the Glock is better. Of course, that is only my opinion. I've carried a Glock Model 20 .10mm for 12+ years on the streets. I own two other Glocks, a Model 31 .357 Sig and a Model 26 .9mm so I'm stating this from experience not just opinion.
Best,

I have to go with the Glock. I've had a few Tarus pistols and while they are functional enough the fit, finish, feel and accuracy can't yet match that of the Glock. But I do believe that Tarus give you more bang for your buck and you are paying a certain amount for the name when you buy a Glock.
Check out the new Tarus 1911. I've looked over a very nice blued model with many bells and whistles for a mere $450. In that price range from other 1911 builders you might get a plain GI version. I've not shot one but I don't think you can go wrong for the price. Any good gunsmith can put in a match grade bushing and a tighter link for a minimal amount that should it shooting with plenty of accuracy for its interned role. To date it is the most impressive pistol I've seen from Tarus.

Which Taurus do you have? As to which is better, both have great qualities, but I am no fan of Glocks, so I would pick the Taurus which is NOT owned by Beretta.( Taurus bought the manufacturing equipment from Beretta in S.A. long ago, and produced their own firearms.) Glocks are durable, easy to maintain, but are, imho, easy to discharge mistakenly and the Taurus has a better safety system.

Glock by far...Just read the reviews...in my opinion the Sig,Springfield XD and the HK are better the Glock but not by much. Taurus is made in Brazil but owned by Beretta and is a cheaper model.

Glock has my vote but Taurus is really starting to impress me. They are churning out some nice guns recently and their quality has really been upgraded. Just an FYI, please include what type of Taurus 9mm it is next time.

I used to shoot I.P.S.C. with my taurus 92. I could out shoot most of the cops in town with it. They carried Glocks. I did break a piece one time and sent the broken part in and didn't cost me a dime to get it repaired. Taurus has a lifetime warrantee.
