Since last Tuesday I have been really sick. Severe coughing, headache, chest pains, runny nose, sore throat, and I had a fever. I went to the doctors Friday and she prescribed me amoxicillin and codal. She said that she was going to be treating me for my ear infection, but my ears aren't hurting as bad as my throat. I have still been coughing like mad. Sometimes to the point where I almost throw up. How am I supposed to get rid of this cough? Will the medicine she gave me help it go away? Is the ear infection causing it?

I am just now getting over the same thing, 4 weeks later. The only thing I could do was wait it out, it was viral. I took ibruprofen for the body aches and Robitussin DM for the cough. I was coughing so bad I ended up causing some damage to my ribs and chest muscles in my left side. You sound like you have a viral infection (the cough, headache, chest pains, runny nose, sore throat and fever) with the added bacterial infection of the ear infection. That is why the doctor gave you the amoxicillin. A viral infection has to run its course and cure itself, no antibiotics will take care of that. The antibiotic will, hopefully, clear up the ear infection. The Robitussin DM really did work for my cough.

Ive had the same thing for 2 weeks now. All of these things are attached to each other. Thats why they have ear nose and throat doctors. Its so easy for them everthing is there together. The pressure from the sinus is what puts fluid in your ears and . The sinus dranage also makes you throat sore. Ive had sinus problems all my life and I can tell you Nothing and I mean nothing is worse than this sht that everbody is getting right now..

A feeling of ear pressure/blockage as if there is something in it is nothing to do with eustachian tube disorder, wax, or ear infection, though can be associated with these conditions. The probable cause is reduced pressure in the inner ears from a number of common causes (dehydration, low blood pressure, weight loss, etc). The ear becomes hypersensitive (Meniere Spectrum Disorder).to sound and various drugs which can aggravate the condition..

It sounds like you have really bad sinus drainage, which is probably causing your ear and throat pain and your cough. Pretty much all you can do is take a decongestant and wait it out. Sorry, I feel your pain.
