Whether God exsists or not, he has affected everyone's life in one way or another, a bit like a magnet, I suppose, a power that you can't see, repelling or attracting. I know some people get sick of religious questions, but we should never stop evolving, or becoming stagnant in our thinking. It's always good to keep an open mind, and listen to all points of view, wether you agree with them or not. I don't believe in the spaghetti monster etc. because he has no purpose, and being made from spaghetti doesn't exactly make him a force:-)

There are many logical arguments philosophers have made to prove God's existence (look up St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Anslem). However, I am not aware of any logical arguments that prove that God does not exist. This is because it is much more difficult to prove that something does not exists. My philosophy teacher in college gave us this example as to why this is the case.
If you are going to prove that a rabbit lives in a field all you have to do is stick you arm in a hole and as soon as you pull out a rabbit you have proved that the rabbit lives in the field. To prove the rabbit does not live in the field you have to complete an exhaustive search by examining every hole in the field which would take much more time.
As for proving that God does not exist you would have to search the entire universe in all time and all dimensions of reality before you could say that God does not exist (this is impossible).
So, I don't think you can prove that God does not exist. However, I don't believe in God. Personally, I atheist (no god) but philosophically, I am agnostic (not sure, undecided).
Hope this helps

I don't have to. You're the one -- presumably -- who asserts that such a being exists, so I have two words for you: Prove it. The burden of proof is on the one making the assertion.
When I was a kid I wondered whether whales were real -- I had seen nothing of them except pictures and drawings and you gotta admit, some whales are bizarre-looking critters. I've since seen more evidence, including some real whales, so I'm convinced that these wondrous animals do indeed exist.
But nobody has come up with ANY evidence for the existence of gods, or fairies, or leprechauns, or invisible pink unicorns, therefore I have no reason to think that any of these beings actually exists.
Over to you.

If there was a god, then any god that would cause or even allow evil and suffering in this world is not fit for worship.
Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].
Jer 36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Their have been thousands of cultures before us all that believed in different things they had reasoning an backing for all their beliefs. And yet we say their all wrong theirs not a zeus theirs not an athena their is 1 solid god. Where is the proof? Old books that someone has written stories? I can tell a story about a 3 headed chicken raiding minneapolis an if enough people tell it over an over again 100 years from now to those people it is truth. If God existed an was the way that people say he is than their is no reason for him to let the evil that their is be.

If I were to say yes then I would be saying that I know what cannot be proved that would mean I am saying I'M God and that I have powers greater than humans. All these other people who say they have a godlike knowledge are just pissed of at there NUTTY phyco-religious parents and just cant move on and Grow out of it.

Since the very notion is absurd, I'd need GOOD reason to think god does exist.
Can you give me a GOOD reason why you think the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't exist?

Simply put if God did exist and he was so pissed off in the older days about such things as slavery and worshipping idols, I think he would be REALLY PISSED off right about now and should just blow us all to high hell. SInce we still here I think it kinda proves the point. Enough said I just answered this for the eighteenth time to get points. IF your going to keep asking I'll take my points for free.

It's not a logical thought. It makes perfect sense that two thousand years ago people were unable to understand science and reason because they hadn't developed the capacity and the technology for it yet, however, people still remain attached to the concept of god and religion today simply because they are unwilling to accept that it was a story told to explain things that seemed unexplainable. People have created stories about gods and religions since the dawn of time, but now that we have the capacity to understand how things really happen, it's time to let go of such fallacies and grasp actual reality.

Which God are you speaking of--the God of the Jews, the God of Christians, the God of Catholics, the God of muslims? Or the God of other religions. They are all markedly different, so it is really hard to figure out which of these gods are the true god of man.
Since all religious texts were written by man, man created god.

Gary has it right. I'd like to just add that this answered prayer business and some of the other personal type things he mentions is the REASON CHRISTIANITY IS A RELATIONSHIP with God, NOT JUST A RELIGION, like Buddhism and such. God bless.
