I have a similar problem. My audio chops every second or two. I think that I don't have the horsepower on my PC. I hear the Quicktime 7 is CPU-hungry.

What version of iTunes / Quicktime are you using?

It is most likely then that you need a bit more RAM in your computer. Usually this happens if the computer is accessing the hard drive. You may need to quit any other applications that are running. You might have too many widgets running in the bacckground? Those are a few ideas.

You could try support at Apple

Maybe try using another program like:

Windows Media Player
Power DVD
Media Center

If all of this fails try reinstalling your speakers or try adjusting the advance settings. (Don't worry, restore defaults should be there. It could muck up so click restore defaults).
