If someone who had a pre-med degree at one time decided to start studying to become an EMT, how long would it take and what classes would you need?

It really depends on what type of emt you want to become. There are 3 types of emt. Emt basic, Intermediate, and peramedic. Each level requireing more education. For emt basic you have to take basic anatomy and physiology classes along with history of emt and emt legal matters cpr and ethics. for emt intermediat you go into pharmacy type classes and Iv training, and the education level goes up from there. I got my Emt through the army 68w program. After you take all the required classes you have to take the natiostate. nal regestry or the equilivant for your state

As far as I know...not much...AT ALL. I have an EMT class at my High School...after you take it (it's a one year, two-hour block class), you are legally licensed to be and EMT.
