Most cramps are due to lack of water. Some cramps come from lack of certain vitamins and minerals. The number one cause of hangovers is dehydration. Alcohol is a dehydrator. I always drink extra water when drinking alcohol. I also take extra vitamins (particularly B, C and calcium), because of alcohol's depleting effects. You may find that this advice is good for your cramps as well. Note that increasing water intake is probably good for your liver and kidneys anyway.

The answer to you question is yes. It could be a sign of liver disease. It is however the worst case scenario. Long term alcoholism can impair the livers ability to absorb Vit. B1 (thiamine).
In turn the body becomes deficient in B1. This is a disease that is called Beriberi and it can cause pain in the calf muscles. This may be a sign of advanced alcoholism.
Other possibilities are dehydration due to alcohols ability to inhibit ADH (anti diuretic hormone), and/or a deficiency of Calcium and Magnesium, and/or a build up of acid due to the acidifying affect alcohol has on the body.

No. Your body is starved for water. Alcohol is a diuretic, releasing the natural moisture in your system generally through urination.
Cramps are caused by your muscles contracting. It is your body's way of telling you that it is drying out. Drink water on a consistant basis. Every day.
One thing that will help is to take vitamin/mineral tablets on a full stomach before you go out drinking. Women will do well with a pre-natal vitamin and should take at least three. There are men's vitamin packs available at any drug or grocery store.

It's probably caused by dehydration, which alcohol causes, and dehydration causes cramps. Try eating at least two bananas a day. Bananas contain a mineral that your body needs, and right now the name of it will NOT come to me, but that will help leg cramps significantly.

alcohol cause dehydration fast, so u must take as much fluid as u can .... to rehydrate ..i don't think its because of liver disease..but the calcium loss can cause calf pain...or muscle pain...so u take calcium tabs , one per daily..if u are in doubt check ur blood for test ...which is known as LFT..liver fuction test..
