I'm talking about forced to retreat after taking a bunch of casulties.

Yes. I have heard of this happening. I don't know where and when but I do know that it was ATF agents along with the local sheriff's departments SWAT team. As they were serving a warrant, the suspects opened fire with heavy machine guns, killing some deputies and agents. The fire fight didn't last long as they backed out and retreated to safety because of alot of men getting shot. That is why SWAT teams now a days go through much more training and planning before they enter buildings.

Yes there has been several incidents in recent police history that SWAT teams were deployed inappropriately and the raid operation was defeated.
Police have had to learn from their mistakes, adapt and then overcome. Waco is a prime example of trying to use a SWAT team when in fact other alternatives were ignored duly in part by arrogance of SWAT team coordinators.

I think not. Ever seen any criminals have the same high quality gear and training, not to mention moral fiber that these men have? SWAT actually means Super Weapons At your Throat.

Not to my knowledge. They've been in some pretty nasty fights (the North Hollywood Shootout and the Branch Davidians come to mind) but they've always won in the end.
