I would suggest drinking mineral water unless you have a water softener/filter. Tap water has chemicals in it that are not present in mineral water. Tap water in some cities is worse than others. And, to some people, mineral water and tap water have very different tastes.

What about the people that only insist on drinking bottled water (in a pub or restaurant) and want ice in the glass. The ice from the ice machine comes from a tap. To be honest, I don't think there is any difference. Water all comes from the same source and is purified and we drink it. The water out of my tap tastes better than bottled sometimes.

For every bottle of mineral water used - a whole bottle has to be made, and is then thrown away - the nondecomposable plastic adding to our rubbish mountains. It's quite wasteful and indulgent.
It is a myth that mineral water is better for you. The bottles can be stored for a long time in the bottling depot and shops (water doesn't go off), the plastics used are known contain chemicals that mimic female hormones - these chemicals can leach into the water.
You're much better off drinking tap water.

I drink tap water whenever I can avoid bottled water. It is at least as well controlled and I just cannot stand the waste of plastic or the expense in moving all this glass around (including bringing it back from the shop!), nor paying for all this mind-numbing advertising.
I visited a water purification plant once, it was as clean as a semi-conductor factory! The real problem by the way is that so much of this perfectly drinkable tap water is used for situations where the water does not need to be that pure, e.g. washing cars, watering gardens, flushing toilets. Cheers!

I only drink bottled water because in my opinion the water in London tastes awful. It even comes out of my tap cloudy and takes a while to settle. I know that in some areas of the country tap water isnt anywhere near as nasty as the water from my taps.

Depends on the quality of the water, in London I drink bottled water but in other parts of the country I drink the tap water.

The main difference for me is taste. I think tap water just tastes of chlorine. Also mineral water has a little more nutrients, but is also free of all the chemicals and other treatments added to tap water. I use a water filter as an inbetween measure.

I only drink bottled water. The tap water at my house is hard and tastes terrible. If I had nice tasting tap water, I would drink it.
