I hate to break it to you, but your Mom is right. They do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, which is the belief that sets Christians apart from other groups. You need to listen to your Mom on this one.

Studying the Bible does not mean you are converting, or actually reverting, as they are more like the First Christians than something new. It simply means you are learning, for now. Witnesses are not like other churches where they count anyone who shows up, it takes a willingness and a dedication to God and Christ that goes far beyond that found in other religions. You can only decide on that direction in your life until you have taken the time to study and seek out accurate knowledge, as the Apostle Paul instructed.

I can tell you not to listen to those who fear the JWs that they are a cult and not Christian. You're going hear that a lot, now and in the years to come. Just remember, being a Christian is the sum total of ones life, not just claiming to believe in one or two things.

What they are saying about the JWs was said about the early Christians, only with a lot more stone (literally) thrown in.

The early Christians were people who went door to door, telling their Jewish brethren that their rituals, beliefs, and holidays, dating back hundreds of years, were no longer valid. Highly educated individuals in the religious arts, such as Saul of Tarsus, could prove that this new Jewish Sect was a cult.

It was made up of lower (working) class individuals, like a Fisherman (Peter) and a Tax Collector (Matthew) who lacked any education, let alone one in religion. And worse, they were following the teachings of a lower class Carpenter (Jesus).

They were writing their own scriptures (Bible) and not sticking with the ones that had sustained the Jews for nearly 2000 years. It was a Bible that matched their beliefs and not those of their brethren Jews.

Any of this sound familiar?

With all his education, Saul could not see that the Truth was being taught house to house.

It took the appearance of Christ, blinding him, for him to see the light. We now know him as the Apostle Paul.

This is what Jehovah’s Witnesses represent.

Every witness becomes a legal minister and not just the elite who get paid to do it. A simple window washer can grow to become a Congregation Overseer, a Circuit or District Servant, or sit on the Governing Board. No, they will not have their names enshrined on building, a church, or in some book, nor will they get paid, but they will be do something to benefit all mankind.

The Churches of Christendom present a better argument for a cult than the Witnesses. A single individual gets paid to tell a large group what they are to believe. They don’t teach them to be ministers, as Christ instructed, and they ignore the admonishments against involvement in the affairs of the world and keeping the congregation clean.

As for the NWT Bible, please find something better than the King James Version to compare to. It was created because the Geneva Bible was considered too strict. The memory of King James was immortalized on it because he prevented the men working on the new version from being put to death by the Roman Catholic Church. It took them 150 years and revised it four times, before it matched the beliefs of the Church of England enough to be AUTHORIZED. The same church whose Bishop said that severely handicap children should be allowed to die at birth, just six months ago.

I'm likely not the best person to be telling you this as I was disfellowshipped from the JWs, for cause. But, I'm at the end of my life and you are just beginning yours. You not only have your whole life ahead of you, but also the possibility of everlasting life, helping to rebuild this old Earth back into a Paradise. Than heading out to the other planet to do the same thing.

Just remember, you do still have to obey your mother, until you are an adult. If you have to wait until than to be baptized, than you can wait. Take the time to study and learn. It will just mean that you will be far more prepared by the time you are truly ready to make your dedication. Also, when you get into biology class, learn about evolution. Though man did not evolved, evolution does take place in understanding what has happened since creation. Remember, others claiming to be Christian are not the only ones opposing you. So are all those of other faiths, as well as those of no faith at all. It is one thing they all agree on, whether they claim to be Christian, Atheists, and even Satanists, that Witness teachings are attracting their people to seek the Truth of God and Christ.

My mother was a highly educated person. She came to the Truth by way of the Encyclopedia Britannica and the series of books called the Bible Story Books, both of which she bought from door to door salesmen. Neither are by the Jws. She was putting away the encyclopedias when the first one fell open to the subject of the Ark of the Great flood. She noted that it said that it was a box, not a boat as she had been taught, and was taught in the Bible Story Books. This got her started on looking up other things. She had been raised in a religious orphanage, where what they did to the boys and girls was not very Bible based. From there, all it took was a nock on the door and a couple of ladies from the local Kingdom Hall.

My stepfather, a Korean War Vet and a Lutheran, openly opposed them by throwing away the books. Than one day he decided to look at one, instead. That was 40 years ago.

Your Monther is correct. They are not a Christian Church. They are counterfiet.
Counterfeit Christianity is probably the best description I can give for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of real Christianity. Bible terms like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are used by the Cult, but the various cult groups have assigned entirely different meanings to these terms.
Like counterfeit money which is sometimes difficult to detect, so it is difficult to detect counterfeit Christianity, since it looks like the real thing. Experts examining counterfeit money often hold it up to a strong light and look for identifying marks. Counterfeit Christianity also has identifying marks, which can be seen when, held up to an even stronger light, the light of God's word, the bible.
We are at an advantage if we know what to expect from a cult. Cultists are very well trained to appear "Christian", and indeed believe they are the true churches, and you need the deliverance! Therefore, be bold and ask the question, "do you believe the group you represent is the only true church on the face of the earth?"
If they reply that they are, or if they are evasive, making remarks like "Well, every church has a measure of truth but...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist.
Every true Christian, if asked the same question, regardless of his denomination, would reply that the true church is comprised of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some organization) is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, (John 14:6). No legitimate denomination would claim that they alone and their members have salvation exclusively, but the cults (the counterfeits) do.

Talk to one of the Witnesses at the book study or the one you might be studying with. Explain to them your situation. They would know best from all the info you share with them in this regards.
We are Christian. We do believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. Jesus was sent by his Father Jehovah to come down to eath to die a ransom sacrifice for all mankind.
It is good to see young ones searching out for themselves the truth. You need to listen to your mother and don't rebel, set an example to her by your conduct. It might take time, but Jehovah knows your heart. Take it to prayer and He will answer your prayers.
Again, talk to one of the Witnesses you have met and they would be more than happy to help you with this.
We don't prey on the weak and young. I searched and found the truth. It is the truth. You are to be commended.
Pray to Jehovah.

No human can prevent another from "converting", since "converting" really describes an inner change.

A human authority might be able to delay one's water baptism, but NO ONE on earth could delay a sincere Christian's repentance and conversion. Mercifully, it is one's repentance and conversion which are of immediate concern. There is reason to believe that Jehovah God may allow the salvation and accept the worship of a person who cannot be baptized because of reasons beyond her control.

Conversion literally means "a turning around" from one's former course of ungodliness. That happens in the heart, not in a baptismal pool.

(1 Peter 3:15,16) But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts... Hold a good conscience

(Ephesians 3:17-19) Have the Christ dwell through your faith in your hearts with love; that you may be rooted and established on the foundation... and to know the love of the Christ

(1 Thessalonians 2:4) We have been proved by God as fit to be entrusted with the good news, so we speak, as pleasing, not men, but God, who makes proof of our hearts.

(James 4:7-10) Subject yourselves, therefore, to God... 8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you indecisive ones. ...10 Humble yourselves in the eyes of Jehovah, and he will exalt you.

Consider a parallel... a human may prevent you from singing, but he cannot prevent you from "singing in your heart". Keep praying, and look for opportunities to do all that you can do in God's service. You can that right now, without waiting for or convincing anyone!

(Ephesians 5:18-20) Keep getting filled with spirit, speaking to yourselves with psalms and praises to God and spiritual songs, singing and accompanying yourselves with music in your hearts to Jehovah, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ giving thanks always for all things to our God and Father.

Jehovah Witnesses are not Chrisitans. They do not agree in the Trinity and they have twisted God's Word to fit what they believe.

Jehovah Witnesses are not Christians, CHRISTians follow Christ, JW's don't. Please do you research ... a good book to read with some questions you might want to ask prior to joining would be "Fast Facts on False Teachings" by Ed Decker/Ron Carlson. Good luck :-)
