I do not talk while driving, my spouse pulls over to answer a call (phonecall is usually her work) My daughter is constantly talking while driving and has been in close calls. If I am with her and she is driving and her phone rings, she answers tells them I cant talk my dad is with me and she hangs up. I live in CA and wish that they would have started the new law sooner. The punishment is nothing, barely a slap on the hand, $25 for first offense and $50 after that. People will pay the fine and keep on talking, they think that their business is more important than other peoples lives. On mythbusters they proved that driving while on a cell phone has the same results as driving intoxicated, which of course has severe penalties.

No I don't. Yes, it should be while you are driving. If you need to talk to someone that badly while you are driving, then either get a handsfree headset or pull over to the side of the road when it is safe to do so. Use your voicemail feature.
If you are driving while talking on the cell, you are becoming distracted and cannot concentrate to the job that is at hand which is driving. Too many accidents are caused this way.

Never have, never will. I think talking on a cell phone while driving is a dangerous practice and it should be illegal in all states, not just California (in New York, for instance, it is a moving violation, which racks up points as well as a stiff fine!). That's a good idea, and I look forward to the day when cell phone usage is outlawed while driving.

I think it should be. I've been hit multipul times by people talking on a cell phone. Cell phone drivers are dangerious. I had a guy a few days ago half way in my lane beside me talking on a cell phone, he nearly pushed me into the garde rail, i ended up having to bump his car or else i would have been put into the garde rail. It was bumper to bumper traffic and slowing down or speeding up was out of the question. I drive a 1989 Ranger and he was in a brand new BMW. He was pissed but it was his own fault,he had no idea what was happening and damaged my truck and his car. That was the most recent. In my last car, I got rear ended by a guy doing 80km/h when I was stopped. He was on a cell phone and tried to blame me because i was stalled with my flashers on. he wasn't paying attention because of his "important" cell phone conversation. Its disrespectful. I'm in Calgary and I wish that cell phones would become illegal to drive and talk.

I do talk on my cell phone while driving but only if totally necessary. I also have an earpiece which I believe people will be opting for more in areas that are outlawing talking while driving.

Holding a cellphone puts someone to into their conversation, cause distractions and accidents, and often keeps people from making their left turns on time. When waitng for a lite to turn red.
But I guess when it becomes the law I'll get bluetoooth technology earpiece, or just use my speakerphone. I dont use my phone that much.
