Other religions have there rules to conform to, law cannot play a part in a religion - providing its recognised. Ie - certain religions have to pray at certain times daily, this cannot be interrupted by law or other means. Jedi, although from starwars is actually a recognised religion - you only need a few thousand followers to make anything a religion status,

Would Nicotinology, Ie worshipping Nicotine - the elite smokers club also be able to claim the "religion" status, providing there are enough followers, and if so - would this be able to bypass the new up and coming anti-smoking laws.?? Ie - must be able to have a smoke break every so many hours, and adequate facilities are to be provided by employers and the goverment. This is a serious question.

I see your logic. Unfortunately, a religion can not bring harm unto others in its practices. Since the smoking laws are there to protect people from the toxic effects of second hand smoke, as well as under aged smoking, it would be hard pressed to by-pass.

Sorry to disappoint you but you're argument falls at the first hurdle - Jedi is not a recognised religion. It requires more than just a few thousand followers to be given religion status.
