help out everyone u can, friends in basic can go a long way. always watch ur toilet paper do not laugh this has happened to my bro, (by the way leaves hurt). do not rat on people, it will only hurt u. NEVER laugh ! they will be having fun with u if u do. never ever give up. the first phase of basic is designed to make sure u fail at even the stupid tasks, so dont stop even if it is useless dont stop! this failure sets u up for success. never get bored write when u can. dont get discouraged. always answer in with confidence, do not being nervous or shaken even if youre giving the wrong answer.
oh and one last thing ultimate compliment from a di is if he asks u on the last day of basic "who the hell are u!" trust me it is a compliment, this means u did not screw up enough to get his attention.

Mua hahaha! Watch out for the guy that drives the bus onto Lackland AFB. He's probably an old black retired Msgt and he's mean as hell. Don't try to represent by dressing well or anything. Don't wear the shirt the recruiter gave you. Do what they tell you and be on your toes. The first thing when you get off the bus will be some processing. You'll sit indian style in the foyer outside. Someone will probably ask a dumb question without a reporting statement and then you will hear yelling. A cold sweat will come to you and you'll realize "$h*t, what have I done". The first two weeks is mostly processing and drill and customs and courtesies. Don't hesitate to stand up if you're going to pass out in class or during processing. Lot's of sitting, filling out forms, and class. Don't fret your tests, they're the easiest thing on the planet. It's funny because the TI's will sweat you and try to make you extra paranoid about your final and when you exit the class after the test everybody's laughing. It's like a big joke. Don't let people in the dorm buy that Axe spray. Everyone will buy it and use it and by the time you get to Tech School your sense of smell will be damaged. Oh wait, you're a girl... Warrior Week: It's going to be really, really, really, really cold up on the hill. It's Texas so there's a wind chill factor. They'll have you wear your PT Uniforms under your BDU's though but it won't help much. Try to take a dump before this. You don't want to be backed up while you're up there and the MREs go right through you anyways. If you get a Female TI get yourself recycled imediately. You don't want to hear that high pitched cadence for 6 weeks. Even if you're a girl you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. You're going to have fun. Trust me, when you get out you'll wish you could do it again for fun. You can write me if you have questions. Sincerely, SRA Driver.

#1. Keep your eyes and ears open at all times.
#2. Keep your mouth shut, unless you have a logical and sound reason for opening it. You'll be put on the spot and you'll have to explain yourself. So your reason better be a real good one.
#3. Follow the rules.
If you are successful with these, the rest will be easy.
If you want to excel, then you have to prove your high moral character in some way. If, and this is a big if, you can impress your sargeants and commanding officer by your character, then they will remember you.
If you don't have what it takes to do this, then just do 1-3 and you won't have any problems, but they won't remember you, either. The choice is yours and yours only.

You're already putting too much pressure on yourself, you want to excel above the rest.... You need to start getting more into a team mentality and mode not a me against them mentality.
This will e the first adjustment you'll have to make and will help a great deal.
Secondly...it's the Air Force dude, it's not like it's the Marine Corp or the Army! I'd say have fun...which you will, lots of hott air force girls and the food is the best in the service, how hard can it be?

Remember this: It is not hard. They will not try to make you do anything that you cannot do. They will not try to make you do anything that THEY have not already done. Listen to the Instructors, the guy next to you does not know any more then you do. Don't complain. Never complain without having an alternative for the person. Don't gossip, keep a low profile.
I did 21 years retired as a Master Sgt and never regretted a day
of it.
The Davecorps is a liar. The T.I. cannot and will not touch you.

Yes what ever you do don't turn your head to take a look at those jack rabbits if you even see one since it is cold. But if you do try not to look at any of them. I saw more young men get in more trouble just for that. And don't lock your legs unless you want to be one of those who look like they passed out. And don't look at your commander with a smile on your face unless you want to be doing some push ups.
Well, other than that good luck and try your best to stay out of trouble. Because once you get done with basic training because you'll have all the time when those weeks are over.

#1. In basic training, don't volunteer for anything.
2. Don't smirk when the D.I. (drill instructor) is yelling at someone else..if he sees u, u get double.
3. Be prepared for humor. The guys that stay in your dorm the first few days have been in training for a couple weeks or so, and it is customary to to tell "tall tails" to the new guys (you). A famous one is.... "On day so and so you get a sterility test.....square needle you know where..."
It's good fun.
If you want, you could do 3 and go to the Acadamy. But,. thats a lot of work.
Enjoy.

be strong it might be hard and tough, but hang in there. you can be one of the few people who would take the chance to join the air force. my brother is a marine and we thought he wasnt gonna make it through training but he did,and they say he one of the few. if he can do it i know you can. try not think of it as being hard try to think of it as being sometihing that you can accomplish.and can look back on sying i did. have courage and and be all you can be. peole are saying keep your mouth shut at all times you dont have to keep your mouth shut. just listen more than you talk and everything should be fine. i met my brother drill sgts. and they were cool so hopefully yours will be 2. your gonna make lots of friends and learn lots of stuff so its gonna be a great exsperiance.good luck!!!!

Do what your told, and do it with enthusiasm. Stay far away from anyone who even seems to question the program. Remember that your part of a team, individuality only works when you are selfless.

if you're up for it, voluenteer for positions. but only if you'd absolutely LOVE to do it.
other then that, show dedication and hard work. it'll show. good luck man. thousands of people graduate from basic. it's nothing. :)
