i love to type. I would love to train as a person that types what the other person is saying--for a living---are there any colleges (on line) that will train you and then help find you a job without you leaving your home? Or is this a rediculous question?

You can take lessons to become a stenographer at home. aka court reporter

Medical Transcriptions is a good job too, and can also be learned with home study. (I did this and loved it)

My friend, who is a court reporter, says that court reporters can do a variety of jobs including medical transcriptions. She makes almost six figures.

Yes, you can find jobs like that, but you are correct in assuming you will need an education to qualify for work in those fields, especially medical transcription. The community college district in our area(dallas county community college, if you're interested) has an accredited medical transcription program and they have put out some good information about what to look for in a program, what your expectations can be, salary ranges, and how long it would take you to be able to work at home (some places require time served in hospitals and things like that)
Just be VERY careful, dear, that you do not get involved in a scam. RESEARCH before you do anything. Sadly, there are far more scams than quality programs in this field.

Yes, Medical Transcriptionists do this. You must take a class in medical terminology, then another class in the transcription machine.

A friend carefully researched online schools when her local college did not have enough students to give their usual classes on this. She chose CAREER STEP, accredited by American Association of Medical Transcriptionists, less cost than other, non-accredited online schools, and they supposedly help you find work after you finish their program (she's about halfway through).

Good luck!

Just to clarify first of all, doing college at home is not homeschooling. Homeschooling is for those in kindergarten through grade 12.

Secondly, I can't even think of a job where you would do that, other than being a secretary or assistant of some sort. Look around for programs offering secretarial training.
