When you buy cookies in the store (Hard ones or Soft ones) they have a "sell by" date.
Does anyone know how long PAST that sell date you can eat cookies (left at room temperature)?
If you know the difference for soft vs. hard that would be great!

The sell by date usually is indicative of what week the cookies will go stale. "StateMate" usually happens one week after the sell by date. The same applies to the sell by date of cow's milk (which you shouldn't be drinking anyway)

If you're worrying about getting poisoned or sick from eating stale cookies that you buy at the store, don't, because they're loaded with preservatives to keep this from happening. And yes this applies to the soft cookies, too.

Fresh cookies that you make at home may go by different "stalemate" guidelines, however I've never gotten sick from eating home made stale cookies. , cause eating home made stale cookies is not something I like to do :) The tremendous amounts of processed sugar and baking soda in home made cookies should shield anyone from these worries as well

To keep them fresh make sure you don't wrap them until they are completely cooled and then firstly wrap them in cling film, then tin foil and lastly place them in a tin with a lid. It takes about a week to deliver something to Canada so they should be in a good condition when they get there. If the cookies have fruit in they can last for months otherwise they should last a little over a week

Whenever I bring home cookies, they never last long enough to go bad...they're gone usually in a day or two!
