ITS CALLED MISMATCH!
With just (1) ONE amp you are OVER DRIVING THE SPEAKER that is why it is distorted!
With (2) TWO amps you have them "OUT OF PHASE" and they are fighting each other.

It sounds like your speakers are "out of phase." Using a nine volt battery and a thin wire or needle you can check the phasing of your speakers.

Phasing is simply making sure that when a positive or negative wave is applied to the speakers, they all move in the same direction. If one or more speakers are hooked up backwards the speakers fight each other resulting in loss of bass and distortion.

Unhook the wires from the output of your amps and slide the wire or needle in through the speaker grille of each speaker and rest it lightly against the cone. Put the 9V battery accross the speaker wires MOMENTARILY and check which direction the cone moves, backward or forward. Mark the wire on the + side of the battery and then check each of the other speakers. All of the speaker wires should now be marked with them all moving in the same direction when the battery is applied accross the wires, relative to the polarity of the battery. When you re-connect them to the amp it doesn't matter which way you connect them, only that the marked wires are all on the same terminals (i.e. the + or - terminals)

Load attempt Your battery and your altinator, what it feels like is the speaker or amp or what ever you have on your automobile isnt getting sufficient potential. easiest thank you to be certain if your alt can shield is it turn your automobile on and use a multimeter on your advantageous and negitive terminals on your battery. At ital the battery could study between 13 and 14 volts. and while the motor vehicle is off it could take a seat between 12.9 to 13.7. If each thing tests out bypass by using and double verify all your wiring and connections and be certain no longer something is grounding out.

yea check your speaker wire and make sure its all correct wiring.. make sure you have your positives goin to positives and negs to negs.. i made the same mistake one day and it would muffle both when both were hooked up, but one would play right when it was just one hooked up... so try that. best of luck to u.
