I really do not know how to cook that well but my plan is to buy a huge pot of crab legs throw them in boiling water and eat, but I have no idea how to season them. Any advice?

I am a crab leg addict, and cook them at home frequently. Recently, I discovered BAKING them. This works well for a couple of reasons:

1: Very few people have pots large enough to steam/boil the crab legs in a uniform manner. Several legs end up sticking up out of the pot, and never get cooked or warmed at the same rate as the rest of the legs.

2. Crab shells tend to get mooshy when steamed/boiled, so it is really hard to snap the leg, and get the meat out. You end up spending 3/4 of your time picking the meat out. How much fun is that?

So, try this: Preheat oven to 425. Lay out crab legs on a cookie sheet. Spritz with spray olive oil. No need to season further. It's like putting ketchup on a prime filet mignon. Bake for prox. 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of the legs. Make sure to have plenty of real melted butter. (You will be struck by lightning if you serve crab legs with melted margarine.) Yum!

You dont boil crab legs, you steam them, make sure that you have a steaming pot or put a saucer in the bottom of a large pan so the legs are not in the water, In the water put a little beer and Old Bay seasoning .For the crabs:Use Old Bay seasoning, put directly on the legs, about 2 tbls per pound...enjoy... Crab boil is for whole crabs; usually Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab...Have you ever heard of boiled crab legs? No, its STEAMED crab legs.

Old Bay Crab Boil
Old Bay Seasoning
If you don't use Old Bay, they're pretty bland.
Most like melted butter to dip the meat in; I prefer cocktail sauce.

First, don't boil crabs, you want to steam them. second, season your your water with a simple lemon, that's all you need. after your crab legs are done, the make a garlic lemon butter to dip your crab meat in. You will not be disappointed. I promise you.

Season the water. It'll in turn season the crab legs.

Salt, lemon juice, peppercorns a few bay leaves.

Don't season them at all!! Just boil, and then dip them in yummy warm butter/garlic/lemon. Oh my God, just savor the sweetness of the crab.
