There is no quarantine period in mainland Unied States. But you do need to fulfill the following conditions:

1. The cat must have a certificate of health from his current veterinarian

2. The cat has to have an up-to-date record of vaccinations: Rabies, Distemper; feline leukemia virus, and others. Ask the vet to givee ALL vaccines. But this has to be done over several visits - can't do it all in one sitting.

3. The cat may need an anti-stress or calming pill for the airport shannigans and the flight itself. Ask the vet for the best type to give (something that will just help calm down the cat - NOT make it go to sleep!).

4. Ask the airlines for their requirements about a passanger bringing his pet. Most airlines take in live animals (pets) as "Accompanied Baggage" This means the cat will fly on the same flight but will be in the baggage area in a special pressurized zone kept for the purpose of transporting live animals. The airlines will give you specifications on the dimensions of the crate or kennel, etc. Follow those.
Some airlines allow pet "In Cabin" that means the cat kennel (which will be very samll in this case) will be fitted under your seat in the plane. Again, ask the airlines what their protocol is.

5. Find out if France requires an "Export Permint" for live animals. Some countries require that you get a permit for flying or exporting a live animal (whatever it may be) from their country to another country. The airlines may be able to supply you with the answer. If they do, then ask your vet to help you with the documentation. Usually, it is the vet office that deals with this side of taking your pet out of the country.
