In my opinion yes it is OK.
My cockatoos LOVE ice cream and I indulge them every now and again. They also love chicken, salad greens, cherry tomato's, mac&cheese, fried rice, and rarely I'll give them french fries!
Most any food that is good for us is also good for them, with some exceptions like choclate, avacodos, onoins, alcohol and some others.

Cockatiels are very picky with new things.
Every bird will gravitate toward foods that they have to 'hull' out. They do this because the insides are 'clean' and this is always preferable to the stuff that's already 'hulled' and may be 'dirty'. It's a survival thing. Smart.
Just keep offering new things and if your bird throws it to the floor, offer it again until it does nibble on it. Eat it in front of her first and then offer it. The way they see it is... if you don't die it must be ok!
That's what they learn from each other and how bad habits are spread!

There are experts and cons to the two seeds and pellets. Seeds are extra organic, besides the indisputable fact that, they're severe in fat (the intake of too plenty fat isn't stable if the foodstuff plan isn't balanced) and occasional in supplementations and minerals. Pellets are severe in supplementations and minerals, yet are thoroughly unnatural and intensely some birds discover them boring to eat. while feeding your birds, you will desire to remember their feeding conduct interior the wild state. some birds, including Eclectus parrots eat specifically end result and eco-friendly-foodstuff interior the wild. subsequently, feeding them a foodstuff plan that's composed customarily of seed or pellets isn't recommended. For parakeets and cockatiels, those birds come from Australia. Australia is truly arid, subsequently they have adapted to ingesting extra seeds and much less produce. I feed my birds a stable high quality seed combination (you may e mail me for suggestions), plus lots of vegetables, vegetables, sprouted seeds/legumes, and end result. A powdered nutrition and mineral supplement is sprinkled over their clean meals (no longer seed). My birds are very healthful.
