i think that women area obsessed with being skinny because most people say that women who have curves or a little on the bigger side, are ugly. A persons beauty is determined from within. being too skinny is not attractive. having curves is the better look. as long as you like the way you are, then you should be able to be whatever size you want.

The media and everyone expects women to be skinny. Women look in the magazines and on tv and everywhere else and all they see is skinny, beautiful women. In return, they think they have to be that way. Also, some are influenced by their boyfriends, husbands, friends, family, etc. They feel that no one could ever love them unless they look perfect.

I'm not obsessed with being skinny. I am obsessed with being feminine. That doesn't mean skinny by any means. I prefer curvy and I think the men who are looking my way prefer that and it's partly them and partly me that I am looking to please.

I think "skinny" is part of pop culture and "in" right now on TV, movies and advertising. I don't really find it attractive. It doesn't look female but boyish and sickly. Those who are looking to imitate it are, I think, insecure with themselves and feel they have to be what they see. I Need to be what feels and looks good on me. I'm not saying that I'm so wonderfully healthy that it doesn't matter to me or that I've grown beyond what anyone else thinks, just that skinny doesn't do it for me.

Because we feel pressure from every direction - the media, movies, magazines, etc. And men, not just women, buy into the stereotypes, so if you want to date, . . . .

If you don't believe me, turn on the tv - at any random station - or look at the ads in the sunday paper. As a not very skinny woman, I often feel marginalized. Grrr!

I don;t have a clue. I watched some kind of documentary about that called "Thin", I think. It was pretty scary. These girls count peanuts and pieces of popcors...crap like that. I dated a skinny girl or two but I'll take a curvy one any day of the week. I like to feel some strength and power when I get to thrusting inside a woman....don't want no girl that I have to worry about breaking in half when I get alittle too excited. I want a woman that can hold on and maybe even encourage me. A thick girl can handle it.

The very same reason many men are. We all feel the need to look good.If we do not live or feel that we do not look our best then we do not! Women show this attitude more so than men. I think that a person is more attractive when they are confident with their selves in every way. Not governed by what they weigh or look like. There is no substance if there is no confidence. If I like a person it is for who they are. Not what they look like.

it has a great deal to do with the society that we live in. nowadays, girls are constantly bombarded w/ messages that they have to look a certain to way to be beautiful, which is quite sad. tv, magazines, movies, all of it gives them the wrong ideas and unfortunately, they take things too far. its not because they are dumb, they just feel so much pressure to live up to unfair images that they go to extreme lengths to be thinner. if our culture didn't emphasize it so much, things would almost certainly be different in that regards. there are books available that talk about this too, so if you want more info, you can google related books.
