Many wedding coordinators have packages that are tailored for your needs..."Day of Assistance", coordinating the vendors, or whatever else you may need.
Whether or not it is worth the cost is really up to you.
But it is good to arrive somewhere for your wedding and have someone who's already taken care of 90% of things.

I'm planning a wedding from 3 hours away from my wedding location & it's actually not been a problem once. I've only gone into the town once to do wedding stuff, I'll be going the 2nd & pretty much final time in a couple weeks. I've loved planning my wedding, I wouldn't miss it for the world. Most of the little details can be done over the phone, in my expierence. Email helps as well.

I was married several years ago and planning my wedding was very stressful especially considering I was working 16 hours a day at the time. I never thought I could afford to use a wedding planner so I never looked into hiring one. I think it would be helpful if you advertise your affordability even for the bride on a budget. Many brides don't think they can afford the service and probably end up paying more for their vendors in the long run.

I am not using a wedding planner because I don't think it would be worth the money unless you are having a very big wedding. I am having about 200 at my wedding and I feel that even with how busy mine and my fiances lives are, we can handle to call and make sure everything is all set for the wedding, and I have plenty of family members willing to help. If you really don't have any time at all to make sure everything is set, then hire a planner. But if you are having a smaller wedding and have help from your family, I am sure you can handle it yourself.

Even though I planned our wedding myself, I still hired a wedding day coordinator to provide assistance with finalizing the details right before the wedding, coordinating our rehearsal, and coordinating our wedding day. Since I had a busy work schedul, it was difficult for me to confirm a lot of the details during the weekday, so my coordinator was able to do this for me. It was also very important to me that my family members and friends be able to sit back and enjoy the day without having to help coordinate things. I definately think it was worth the money and would hire a coordinator again. Our coordinator provided assistance beginning 4 weeks prior to our wedding. She meet with us to go over all the details of our wedding, confirmed all our vendors (i.e., set up time, break-down, services being provided), assisted in creating a wedding timelime for vendors and wedding day schedule for all the bridal party members, coordinated our wedding rehearsal, providing on-site coordination of wedding ceremony and reception, supervised ceremony and reception setep (programs, unity candle, guest book, favors, card holder, toasting glasses, cake server, menu cards, etc).

i think it is. especially because you're not getting married in the town you live in.
i hired one for our wedding because we live outside of seattle and trying to sift through all the options around us was making me crazy!!! plus i've just started a second job and i don't have the time that i need to meet with vendors. she's been great so far about helping us with budgeting and everything. she said she'd be able to keep us under our budget, even with her fee, which is important for us!
i think it's a good idea, because i know that, at least for me, it's been able to keep the stress part of the wedding down and let me concentrate on the fun parts of planning a wedding. :)
i would suggest talking to several first and telling them what you have in mind for them to help with so that there are no surprises. just be sure to find someone that you like and that your personality matches well with, because this person is going to be a big part of your life for a few months!!
congrats and good luck!

I'm getting married in June this year and my opinion is DONT use one. I am not using one myself due to the cost and i don't think they do enough help/organising for what they charge you. My sister used one when she was married and she was unhappy with the way things were and the cost of the planner was not cheap. So my suggestion is ask family to help with the organising instead, its cheaper and i don't think they will mind helping you out.

No, I feel it's a waste of money for myself. But if you are having a location wedding. It might actually be worth it.

I think in your case it would be worth it. I personally am not using one because I enjoy putting everything together myself.
