I'm guessing because you have to be an American citizen to enlist, although that's a good idea to be made a part of Bush's immigration plan - expedite the legalization process only for those immigrants that pledge to join the military for at least 1 tour of duty, that way they prove their allegiance to our country and we add some critical numbers to our active military forces; it's a win-win.

American military for an illegal is a die or die situation, they(some of them) might be illiterate, but they are not stupid to go risk their life and leave their wife and children without someone to provide and care for them. But then again I have heard cases of illegals joining the military and getting their residency(the ones who survive).

I'm sure they would if you wouldn't mind your dishwasher being a fellow soldier who is now holding your life in his hands. Most of the people I know in the military are minorities.. some who are immigrants. I don't think dishwashing constitues as saving the country.

they can't join unless they are either residents or citizens. i'm sure if they changed the rules they would. and i doubt a draft would scare them either, though i'm guessing it might scare the children of many politicians.
