According to the bible it is only thousands of yrs. old....don't believe the fundie evolution theories that try to say it is billions of yrs old....there is NO evidence for that except their made -up radiological dating system.

The whole idea of the earth only being thousands of years old is USUALLY left in the domain of Christian High Schools.
I went to a Christian University, where they taught SCIENCE. They taught us that science dictates the Earth is billions of years old.
Science and Christianity don't have to clash. There is a belief called Theistic Evolution, in which God still created everything, but used evolution to do so.
What you believe as far as the age of the earth or whether we evolved from apes or were created from dust, HAS ABSOLUTELY NO BEARING on being a true Christian.

Then the school you went to was run by false Christians.
I know that because they taught you a lie. Stop and think: NOWHERE in the Bible does it say how old the Earth is.
The scientific findings don't contradict the Bible--unless you insist on taking every thing as a literal physical description. And that is clearly not the case--Christ (and the prophets) often used metaphors, parables, similes.
The point of Genesis is that God ccreated the universe and everything in it. It is clearly not intended to be a textbook describing HOW He did so.

Yes people have different views. Sadly we can't settle it by popular vote; science deals with evidence, not what your average citizen thinks. It is possible that the Earth's age will be given a new estimate one day. But right now all signs point to about 4.5 billion years. If we find something that tells us it's actually 6,000 years (not a small error to make), we have to be able to explain why geology, astronomy, biologogy, chemistry etc all point to an earth a million times older.

Uh, billions baby, billions. That means thousands of millions. What school did you go to. Most people who believe the earth is a few thousand years old believe that because that's when the Bible dates to. Now, I like the Bible and it is a good book. Of course it is not the only book, try opening a few others and you will see that there vastly differeing opinions and some even relevant facts about everthing in life.

The notion that the Earth is thousands of years old is only around because people want to be Biblical literalists. In fact the Earth is a couple of billion (not million) years old. Human beings have been around for a few million years.

Scientists have been able to determine the probable age of the Solar System and to calculate an age for the Earth by assuming that the Earth and the rest of the solid bodies in the Solar System formed at the same time and are, therefore, of the same age.
The age of 4.54 billion years found for the Solar System and Earth is consistent with current calculations of 11 to 13 billion years for the age of the Milky Way Galaxy (based on the stage of evolution of globular cluster stars) and the age of 10 to 15 billion years for the age of the Universe (based on the recession of distant galaxies).

We really don't have an accurate, empirical way to determine the age of the earth. There is compelling data for a young earth that everyone should be made aware of and let them decide what they "believe" about its age.
Firstly, we can't evade the fact that the oceans are getting saltier each and every day. This perfectly natural and measurable increase in salinity shows that the oceans (if they were initially made of pure water), might be as young as 10,000 years. (http://www.creationism.org/books/TaylorInMindsMen/TaylorIMMk11.htm)
Also, it's good to know that the strength of the earth's magnetic field is decreasing each and every year. Most geologists believe this because the molten core of the earth is naturally cooling and hardening, thereby weakening the magnetic field it generates. If this decay has continued at a regular pace, it shows the earth to be a mere 10,000 years old as well. (http://www.creationism.org/lang/Lang2DecadesCrtn/Lang2DecadesCrtn_2.htm)
There's other issues to consider, see the links I've referenced for more evidence.

I don't know how old the earth is. Actually, nobody does.
I think it is in the thousands, not millions. The only reason for the millions of years, is to validate the evolutionary ideas of Charles Darwin, a man who believed that he was descended from an ape.

People do not have different views on this. They are either right in their knowledge that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, or they are wrong. There are no different opinions

You were taught well.
In the beginning,God created the heavens and earth.
The number 7 is very significant in the Bible.
It took God 6 days to create. On the 7th day He rested. It also says 1 day is 1000 years and 1000 years is 1 day. We are very close to the end of the 6th day...aka 6000 years. The Jewish calendar is slightly different , by about 12 years. But,nevertheless this 6th day (6000 years) is VERY close to the end. The 7th day(rest) will be the 1000 year reign of Christ which commences upon His 2nd Coming and puts a stop to Armaggeden.
After that,Christ is recommishioned to rule and reign forever.
These misled people who follow the religion of evolution only proves the words of Jesus 'Wide is the path to destruction (hell) and narrow is the gate to heaven that so few choose'
Evolution is one of Satan's top deceits out there and he's laughing at all the people he has fooled into believing this rubbish.
