My brothers whole tax refund was garnish because of student loans not being paid. I there anyway he can get that money back if he makes an aggrement with the student loan company or is the money gone for good? Has this ever happen to anyone and what did you do??

No, he owes that money to the Federal Goverment due to his defaulting on the Student Loan, he needs to contact the Student Loan Servicing company and start making payments on his obligation

Well, yes of course his whole refund was taken if he owed defaulted student loans. He would have been told that this would happen. Why would the student loan company think he'd honor an agreement he made now when he didn't honor the original one?

And yes, it's gone for good. He owed it - why would he think he didn't have to pay it?

If he gets current with his payments, maybe he can keep from having the same thing happen again next year.

gone for good now..he needs to make arrangements to pay the rest of it so they don't take his return next year....it usually takes a few warnings for them to proceed to taking a return so it's not like he hasn't made a payment in a couple months,more like a couple years
