Would you work for a company that had a religious affiliation that you did not? Why or why not? I have been offered a job at a holistic doctor's office/chiropracter's office as a recptionist. They are run by scientologists. I have no religious affiliation, but I'm concerned about them forcing it on me once hired. Any suggestions????

Okay, let me be clear.... I have NO religious affiliation. I am not christian or otherwise. I don't knock any religion, just believe that everyone has the right to believe what they want... without the doctrine.

Hm. If they start trying to force it down your throat, tell them that you respect their beliefs, but you have your own. Simple as that. If you lose your job for some strange reason afterwards, it's religious discrimination. Simple as that.

In the United States I think it's generally illegal to discriminate based on religious identification.

There are a handful of exceptions for "private" organizations -- boy scouts, churches, etc.

I've worked for several companies that had Christian owners, supervisors, and/or owners. Your best bet is to keep your opinions to yourself, and quit if they get to overbearing with theirs. Most larger companies are safe because of the diversity of the population.

If they offered you the job perhaps you could write on your application they have you fill out, your feelings about your faith.
Let (them) make the decision; since they asked you.
You could make it a condition they would have to abide by if they got you to say yes.

Find another job. It will be like serving a false religion.

I'd be more concerned about the holistic/chiropracty part.

If you have a concern, then don't take it.....listen to your conscience.
