As of the end of December 2006, I got a new job and worked a total of three days before the end of the year. I know that my current company has mailed out all W2s as of 1/30/07 and I have yet to receive mine. I expect that over those three days worked, I made less than $500. Would they even have sent me a W2? Does tax law require me to file for this small of an amount? Obviously, I can ask my employer tomorrow, but I had hoped to find some answers today so I can finish my taxes.. Any ideas?

I should add that those three days fell onto a pay period ending in 2006. I didn't receive a paycheck for those days until 2007.. But shouldn't that qualify as 2006 earnings?

If you were not paid for those 3 days in 2006, it will be included in your 2007 earnings, so you would not get a W2 from that employer for 2006

You need to make $600.

If you were NOT paid for these days in 2006, but received payment for them in January 07, you then do not have to claim any of it for it will go on your 2007 w-2.

If you WERE PAID (as in check in hand and you cashed it before Dec. 31) and did not get a w-2. You do not need to claim it unless your employer is claiming it. I do suggest that anything paid by check get claimed due to being a paper trail for the IRS.

Happy Sunday !!
