Cuddles. My almost two year old loves cuddles, and I know it's frustrating when you have loads of things to do, but when my daughter is ill, she loves to be comforted by cuddles...
and distract him with C Beebies I know it's off the air right now but do you have Cable's Teleport replay service, you can find the Tweeies, Me too and boogie beebies on there, amongst other programmes.
have his softest cuddliest toys around him, and since he has a cold, remember to prop him up when he is sleeping to ease his breathing a little too.

if he is constantly crying, call the doctor incase he has an ear infection, that is very painful. If he just grizzly then I suggest lots of cuddles and indulgence from mummy! He is sick! When my toddler gets sick I tend to indulge him a bit more to comfort him more, once he is feeling better everything goes back to normal though and I havn't had any problems with him because I let him have his own way for a few days (within in reason of course!)
Also phone NHS Direct, just incase. 0845 46 47

Go to the doctor first thing tomorrow. Show up there. I use dyslum with my 22 month old or dimetapp. He is sick and miserable just soothe him until the medicine kicks in. If he doesn't show improvement maybe the dosage is wrong. Don't over or undermedicate. Use a HUMIDIFIER at night. That will help. Keep him hydrated. Good luck.

what about his temperature? feel his forehead/chest/feet ... is he warm/sweaty? what about his throat, is it red? (tonsillitus)
if his ears are a bit red it could indicate a viral infection in which case doctor may decide 2 prescribe an antibiotic for him. If he has diarrhoea/runny motions doctor would say one most important things is to keep up fluids (nothing wrong with diluted juice made up for a toddler ie. just more water added to the measure of juice) if he only wants small sips that is fine. sitting on ur knee with a wet facecloth on his brow if he is warm will help and a cuddle.
i think with kids one day they are up the next they are down
especially if they attend nurseries, etc. as their immune systems
take longer to respond to viruses than that of an adult. i think u should call your doctor/emergency doctor on call and tell him how your little son is to seek an experts advice. they should not mind especially in the case of a boy so young. check for rashes etc and cold feet, rashes (tumbler test)

i would take them to the doctor and find out exactly what is going on. the sooner you find out the better. it is normal for a two year old to cry once in a while but not all of the time. it may not be anything serious but one can never be too sure especially when it comes to kids. hope this helps. good luck.

Try a child's cold medicine or pain killer that has "drowsy" as an effect. That might help him sleep. Also just sit and comfort him for a few minutes. It's hard it be sick when they're that little. They just don't understand why they feel so bad.

Dose them up with Calprofen - more effective than basic Calpol.
Give them a warm bubble bath. Clean pyjamas + socks.
Then snuggle them up in a duvet infront of a kids movie like 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
They'll stop crying and feel more relaxed - so will you!
