We have been donated many cadavers for our anatomy labs, and we were informed that the bodies would be returned to the families when we were done. We've been instructed to keep every single piece of the body together (either attached or in a bucket) so that the body, in its entirety, can be returned to the family for burial.

My aunt left her body to the school of anatomy at Sheffield university. If any parts are not dissected by the students they still just get cremated with the bits that have been carved up. We eventually got a letter saying where her ashes had been buried.

Yes the body parts are placed into a medical coffin and sealed. Then they are released to the family for them to arrange the funeral. This happened to a friend of mine, he had to wait over two years to get his mothers body parts back. Although it is a very noble thing to allow to happen to you, its not good for the people who loved you, having to wait all that time for closure.

You can donate your entire body for research and then your family gets nothing back. I have signed up for that. When you drive past a cemetary just think how much wasted money is there. Plots, coffins and tombstones - all this does absolutely nothing for the surviving family.

Why no longer? i'm an organ donor and don't strategies in any respect leaving my physique to medical technological information because of the fact after i'm long gone, what use do I easily have for rotting flesh? i could besides help mankind by using helping scientists make headway in looking remedies.

You should read the book "Stiff" it is about what happens to people's bodies after they are donated to Science. N OT everyones eyes go to a blind person, nor their kidneys to dialysis patients.

ill think you will find that all your body parts would be used to some degree although you will be pumped full of enbalming fluid to fill your tourso just incase the family require an open coffin when it comes to funeral time!!
