Just curious do some undercover cops ever become addicted to drugs as in the movie rush?

Having worked U.C. in narc. I learned that there is always an out instead of using the drug(s) you are buying. I know of some that have gotten hooked and lost everything they once had. But most buys are set up so you don't have to use. long term U.C in narc. division is becoming a thing of the past, specially in the county in which the movie is flimed in.
