If he has dual citizenship in the U.S. then no he would not have an obligation. If not then best of luck, hope he does well serving his country.

He's free. Last year, they pushed up the age maximum to 42 years old, or those born in 1964 and after. Before 42, it was 35 years old.

If he skipped out on mandatory service he may be still conscripted. If he still has Greek citizenship , and is a deserter of any kind , he could be in trouble. If he is worried about it , he shouldn't go , but if he did any mandatory service in the country , he is too old to start serving now.
I feel like we weren't given all details on this. If their are any worries , stay away.

Greek has a special law enabling the execution of those evading military service. Your friend has to find a good excuse or risk death by hanging.
