First, get your appendix checked immediately - right now would be a good time. You may have appendicitis and it may need to be removed. If this is so and you don't go to a doctor/ER ASAP it could explode in your body and kill you. Seriously. The fever and chills tie in with the criteria for possible appendicitis.
Have your doctor do an X-ray of your ribs to make positively sure it isn't that.
You may have an ulcer, or an abscess. These need to be taken care of immediately. I have a friend who recently had an abscess in his colon and it kept becoming infected. For the past 8 months, due to the infection, the surgical wound from the first operation would not close and this made the infections worsen. Catch-22. He just went in for a 4-hour surgery to close the wound on Thursday. We still don't know if it was successful. He's in a great deal of pain though. DO NOT let your doctor shoo this off. It may be very serious.
You may have pancreatitis. This too is very dangerous. It can put into eventual shock and possibly result in death. I don't mean to try and scare you. This may be something very simple. Never wait around to find out, though. Since I would imagine your doctor's office is closed, go to an ER immediately. It's never in anyone's best interest to hang around waiting for what will happen next.
You may also have gallstones, kidney stones, mono, an intestinal obstruction, diverticulitus, pelvic inflammatory disesase, a hernia, colitis, or a urinary tract infection. All of these need immediate attention. Shingles sounds like a strange diagnosis unless you have a rash on your body. Even then, it is a very serious illness (chicken pox in adults) and must be treated at once. It is also possible you may be lactose intolerant or simply constipated, but I wouldn't take the chances of not addressing the problem because it might not be something too serious. You may even have a virus.
Get it checked out now, please. If your ribs aren't cracked, the likelihood is that you're experiencing one of the above. Best of luck (and health!) to you.

I've had a friend that really hurt to breath.. her ribs were too small for her lungs and had to get surgery to fix it. Although the fever makes it sound like a bug.

Be sure it is not your appendix!! I am guessing since you have seen a doctor that has been ruled out. We just had a family member go to the family doctor who sent him to the surgeon for his appendix, the surgeon did blood work and said his white count was fine and it was not his appendix. Well, it was and it burst. Can't give you any more than this but just be sure to rule that out as a possibility.
