I've had marble wedding cake, carrot cake, vanilla, chocolate, and spice cake, (im sure you could get whatever flavor you want). You could alternate the layers as well as teh fillings. Your cake can be anything you personally want. It doesn't matter what wedding cakes usually are, just get what you like. Good Luck!

Cakes can be either/or. Maybe you should go with a marble cake if you can't decide. What I am doing though is getting a cheescake. Each tier is going to be a different flavor and because my stupid reception hall charges to serve the cake to the tables, I have an excuse for having all different flavors and peoples can go get the flavor they want. Cheescake is only a little more expensive than an ordinary cake so maybe you should splurge. Otherwise go for chocolate cake cuz chocolate rules.

It is all up to your taste. For clients that are having a difficult time choosing, I recommend a multi-flavored cake. Alternate between chocolate and vanilla, and your guests will be blown away. The outter apperance of the cake will not be affected, but people's taste buds will!

they are traditionally fruit cake, but who actually likes fruit cake. i too spent hours agonising over my wedding cake, so i am now cheating. my bottom layer is chocolate - the really naughty kind, the middle is a vanilla sponge and the top layer is fruit.
that way there is something for everyone.
but at the end of the day,it is your cake, so whatever you prefer is the right choice.

Your wedding cake can be any flavor that you desire. Work with your baker to find creative ways to enhance flavor on a budget.
Tastings are wonderful, as you can test the flavors and then decide. Many bakery's will do each tier as a different flavor as well.
Have fun with it! and pick something special that your friends and family will remember for a lifetime!!
Best wishes!

traditionally wedding cakes were fruit cakes, however, the current trend is to have whatever cake you want.
many brides are choosing a different cake for each layer of their wedding cake. orange sponge cake, lemon tart, chocolate, etc. thus giving guests a choice.

The most common is white cake, however there are tons of other options out there. I've even had orange wedding cake once.

i think the usual is buttercream. i personally had mine done in 4 tiers... the largest buttercream, next chocolate, next strawberry, and the one we kept buttercream. the only thing i was told about doing different flavors is you have to get some sort of design (like a basket weave is what i did) in the icing b/c when they put white icing over the strawberry or chocolate crumbs get stuck in it and you can see them. but a basket weave or other design covers it. mine was gorgeous and delicious. but you can do whatever flavor you want.
