Have you checked the O2 sensor? It looks like a spark plug and it's installed on the exhaust manifold on the downward neck of the manifold facing toward the front of the vehicle. It's a straight up ***** to get at and it's like a $10 dollar part, ...but when it goes out or goes bad it causes the engine to run either too lean or too rich. A dealership could tell you in a second by hooking it up to their computer.

check the filter first. the best way to check the pump is to remove the fuel line (direct the fuel line away from the engine with a rubber hose) crank the engine and if the fuel pump is working fuel will spurt out of the fuel line. three possible problems 1. fuel pump-mechanical or a power problem (loose wire/blown fuse) 2. plugged fuel filter 3. bad accelerator pump-this is the pump inside the carb that pumps fuel into the engine

Maybe you should try changing the PCV valve and if that don`t work try changing your EGR valve! Those are the usual suspects for that type of problem!
