TEXAS HEELER.

When an Australian Shepherd and a Heeler are mixed, it is called a Texas Heeler.

The word is spelled Heeler not Healer. Remember it this way, the dog isn't curing anyone. It is bred to nip at bull heels. The type of herding it is doing is called "heeling".

WE END UP WITH HEELERS AT THE SHELTER ALL THE TIME BECAUSE THEY NIP.

People breed and then sell or give away the pups to people who don't know how to handle them. Those people dump the pups in the shelter.

Consider having the parents fixed! We don't need to be putting to sleep your dogs puppies all the time.

check out the web links below for more information on Texas Heelers.

An Australian Shepherd has longer hair and the blue heeler has shorter hair. They are two completely different breeds with the same working drive. They are both highly intelligent dogs. Both are used for cattle/ranch work. I would look on the AKC website for pictures of each.
