i think that everybody has their own definition for happiness! it just depends on how you became happy, or what made you happy

Hey, there. That's a question deeper than the ocean and something that only those that have ALREADY lived life can answer. For example, I am now a Grandma. (no, not one that had children as a teenager or children that had babies as teenagers!!). My Mom always told me, money is the root of all evil. No truer statement has ever been spoken. Status? Who are you competeing with/trying to impress? You will struggle to do that for the rest of your life. It will eat you alive. You will begin to associate only with people of or above your "status". That's so sad. The "lowlings" "under" you are the most wholesome and down-to-earth people you would ever have the privelage of meeting. Headed to or reaching the top is cut throat and dog eat dog, you don't dare turn your back on anyone. You, also will have to chew people up and spit them out. Comfortable? Wow. That's a really awesome place to be. NOT over-extended with an outrageous mortgage and car payments, credit card debts which will in a heartbeat become a payment you can only pay minimally on! You will work only to pay your bills. That's sooo much of a super stressed out place to be. Family life? Children? Absolutely, positively!!!! They are THE blessings in your life. They are the extension of your own self. Spouse? Depends. Personally I only know a handful of people of my generation (just about 5 or so yrs. under "baby boomers") that are still married after 30 yrs. that can say they are TRUELY happy. My definition of happiness? An awesome sunset, watching moving clouds, following your dreams, your own moments of SOLITUDE , your own SPACE, if you can only grab it for 1/2 hr. in 3 days, it's the basis of life. It will keep you strong. Keep life simple. Remember to appreciate small things that are always there. ie:sunset,rainbows......

Obviously, everyone has their own particular definition of happiness. Some versions might be more materialistic and some more philosophical.

For me, "happiness" is defined as having a loving, intelligent, sexy wife with whom I enjoy a variety of shared interests.

We've been both poor and wealthy, and through it all, it was the love between us that mattered more.

Happiness, for us, is the ability to enjoy the small things in life and be content with them. That way, if a little gravy comes our way, that's fine, but we aren't jaded by more conventional definitions of "success."

Happiness does not come from status, wealth, etc. Those are things that cannot make one happy. SOme of the richest and most powerful people on earth suffer the most. Look at the hollywood crowd and their suicide, drug abuse, divorce rates.

For me, happiness is knowing I am forgiven by my Creator and living the best life I can - caring for my family and awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.

My professor told us they have done studies that show that as long as someone has enough money to have their basic needs met, having more money does not make one happier.

I think it's being able to go with the flow and enjoy life for what it is. We may not always get along with our family, but we should enjoy having them. We should be thankful for what we have, and observant so we notice all that we do have.

Happiness comes when you have fulfilled your dreams and are surrounded by love.
Happiness is just a state of mind... I think you need to be comfortable with your role in life and be surrounded by family and friends who love you to be happy x

Nope, not money. To me, it definitely is the people in your life. First, God. Then family and friends. These are the most important things in my life. It is feeling valued and valuing the people around you.

Peace.

Status means nothing to me. Money surly does not make you happy. I know people who have more than they need, but it does not make them happy. Not having enough can contribute to unhappiness. I'm happy. If people had everything that they wanted they wouldn't have anything to look forward to.

Happiness - is not about getting what you want in life, it's about wanting what you already have.....

I always said if there was a pill that made me not care about what clothes I wear, not bother about holidays, not bother about a nice house, not bother about nice car.... just to be happy with what I already have - I'd say give me the pill.

in a therapy session...i dared mention.."i just want to be happy" the result was a hour discusiion on what happiness is...

every one's answer of gonna be different...supposedly true happiness comes as a feeling of completement...that you are truly comfortable; in your own skin, with who you are, with what you put out in the world...

but you can take the approach of the superficial and say...lots of money and great entertainement...

For me it would be all of that, but in moderation ( a little like vegetables) My idea of happiness is if I had a big farm, a bunch of cute little healthy kids, and my husband whom I adore... I think that'd do for me.
