what is 20 mg once a day most for?? depression or anxiety??

When Prozac actually gets fully into your system (a few weeks) it should work for both. If this was your initial dose, the doctor will probably raise it after you and he or she determines how it is working for you.

Both, and now it is being used as one of the top medications for OCD. 20 Mgs a day is not a lot, so if you are not feeling the affects that it should be having on you, then contact the doctor who gave it to you, and he will either take it up, or decuss a different medication. The highest dose that you can go on Prozac is 80 mgs so keep that in mind to please.

Both depression and anxiety. People might take Prozac for both or either one.

I take Paxil for depression and anxiety, it's a similar drug; I also work for a mental health agency.

They both called Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitors, they help to keep the neurotransmitter Serotonin from going away too soon. This helps some people to deal with depression and anxiey symptoms.

Zoloft is another drug in the same class. There are others, but I'm not as familiar with those.

Prozac may have that reaction for the dentist, but for most people it's a gift. I'd never want to go back to that person who couldn't get out of bed on the weekends.

20mg/DAY IS A STANDARD DOSE USED FOR DEPRESSION, PROZAC WILL MAKE YOU END UP FEELING LIKE SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT REACT TO LIFE AS IN THE PAST, IN OTHER WORDS, LIKE A DIFFERENT PERSON. THIS IS NOT GOOD IF YOU FIRST HAD A SHARP WIT AND A QUICK MIND. YOU'RE LIKE A VIRTUAL ZOMBIE.
