Use a high quality CD. Some of the cheap ones don't last. I had a couple of store brands fail just 2 months after I burned them. Luckily, there wasn't anything vital on them. The link below explains more.

I use E-Film Archival Gold CD-R by Delkin.They claim a 300 year Disc Life.
