This is not common to all. Each individual will have different feelings. Indian scriptures clearly explain that the relationship depends upon the state one has reached.
1. Friend: Example of Sudama (Kuchela) and Arjuna
2.Son: Yasoda, Devaki, Kausalya, Dasaratha etc.
3. Lord: Hanuman treated Rama as lord.
4. Brother: Bharata and Lakshmana treated Rama as bother.
5. Enemy: Kamsa, Sisipala, Ravana etc.,
6. Lover: Radha, Rukmini, Meera, Andal Goda Devi etc.,
All the characters I have mentioned above revered the lord and attained salvation. But they expressed in different ways.
Ramakrishna paramahamsa revered Kali as mother.
Therefore the relationship with God depends upon ones own state of mind and the level t has reached.

It is a very valid question!
We share different relationships with him.
One can have a relationship with him as a saint, a servant, a friend , a parent or as a juvenile lover.
The relation we have with different people is a perverted reflection of the relation we have with God.
Your inclinations towards any of these relations with God will come with your self realization!

Since India is a land of poly-theism, you can think of any
relationship to concentrate your mind on Him. All that is
needed is concentration.
If you think of human level relationships, those relationships
will have human limitations. Having understood all such
relationships, you should try to go beyond them to achieve
what is unique for you. The ancient philosophical texts
say that ther is some thing unique in every person.
You will derive the highest satisfaction when you discover
what is unique in you.
