So don't touch the cat's back! He obviously doesn't like it. Has he seen a vet yet? If not, get to the vet pronto and have the cat checked out. There may be something wrong with his back that is hurting him. That could be why he doesn't like to be touched there. It is very unusual for a cat not to like having his back scratched. Most cats hate having their belly touched. So you should really get this checked out.

Some cats and dogs have very sensitive touch areas. Its rare in extreme cirumstances but it does occur. Do not pet your Cat on the back and tell others not to as well. Its not the Cats fault its just his way of letting you know that it hurts him.. Still I would get him checked out with a vet in case its something else..

If he's only doing that when he gets patted on the back, then he probably doesn't like to have his back touched. Cats get offended easily. Mine will flip out if you touch her feet.

don't pat him on his back!

Cats don't like "surprises"... if he can't SEE you, he may interpret you touching his back as an "attack".

Good luck... and get a water spray bottle to keep him in check and away from the baby! Works with my two cats like a CHARM - all I have to do is SHOW them the spray bottle and they RUN LIKE HELL. LOL...

wow...if its when he is playing, its normal, just teach him to play gental, by just playing gental...not like moving ur hand very fast...or like try to wresel with it. But if its just when he gets atted, he oviosly doesnt like it.....there are a few option...just dont pet him there, or squirt him with a water bottle when he bites you....or like take him to a cat trainer. good luck
