Both are Abrahamic religions. Both are monotheistic. Both believe in a judgemental God with either punishment or reward waiting when you die. Don't use jihad as an example unless you really understand what that means-Christians have long had their own form of jihad.

Fairly impresses with the knowledge here. I expected most to be like Jim H, with ridiculous statements.
Anyone ever heard of the Crusades?

Yes, they are similar. The only key difference is where Jesus is concerned. Christians believe that he is the son of God, while Muslim only revere him as a prophet.

Both are monotheistic. YES!! So is Judaeism. Christians have long had their own form of jihad. YES!! It was called The Crusades. They were a one time point in history. Christians no longer spread their religion with the sword. Muslims still do!! Islam teaches there are 3 ways to deal with infidels. Convert them, or tax them or kill them. Is Christianity "closely" related to Islam as you have stated? Both believe in the same God... from there, the similiarity ends. There are no Christian suicide bombers, no Christians currently blowing up sky scrapers with airplanes, no Christians planting IED's along roads to kill infidels.

But it's a daily routine for Muslims to perpetrate these acts. Yes, Islam is SUCH a PEACEFUL religion.

there are similarities

Im not sure if the Abraham of the Bible and the Abraham of the Koran are as similar as they sound. MOst of the stories just do not match although MOhammed insted they do

but some of the most significant elements of salvation do not agree... the work of Jesus on the cross, the resurection, the adoption of believers as children of God .. all pretty important

and Islam acknowledges the new and old testament (sort of) but has to claim it is corrupted because it does not agree with Mohammed

in most Christian minds, the Koran is not so much the work of a prophet but the work of someone who could not read or write and passed on the stories as he remembered them not so accurately

I even have on no account heard any atheist say that. Why do christians deny that Christianity is evil? equipped in basic terms to make money for a corrupt device. Christians slaughtered tens of millions interior the crusades. whilst the Roman Catholics have been spreading their faith via Europe, they slaughtered the adults who refused to transform and abducted their babies, forcing them to coach their faith? How is that no longer evil? Islam is not greater effective. it is equipped on hate. yet with the wording of your question, you act as though different religions are not.

Why shouldn't they be quite a bit alike. Christianity was practiced for over six hundred and thirty years before Islam was invented. Many Christian ideas were copied directly, others were conveniently rearranged or changed to suit Mohammad ( pisse be onto him )
You mentioned a Christian form of jihad, but did not describe what you're talking about.

They are closely related but very different at the same time...

I will mention them in very clear words. First, and foremost, the two different books, the Quran and the Bible. Second, the two different founders, Mohammed and Jesus Christ. Third, the two different deities, the God of the Bible, and Allah of Islam. Fourth, the two different ways of salvation. The way of Cain, which is salvation by works, and the way of God, which is salvation by grace alone. Then, I would say, fifthly, that the two different standards of life. You know you'll go to the Quran, and you'll see a big difference between the standard of life in the Bible and in the Quran, concerning marriage and divorce; concerning dealing with the wife. You go to the Quran and you'll see in reference to the wife, that the Quran permits the Muslim to beat his wife. In the Bible we see "love your wife as Christ loves the church". This is a very big difference. Then concerning kindness to all mankind, the Quran declares once and again, that the Muslims should go to war against Jews and Christians, and kill them. Then, concerning peace and war. Jesus Christ told Peter, "Put your sword away. Those who will take the sword will die by the sword." Mohammed told his followers, "Go and fight!" Then sixthly, the two different declarations. In clear words, the Quran denies the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. And the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the focal point of the Bible. Take the cross from the Bible, and the Bible is a dead book. But the Quran says, "they did not kill Him, nor crucified Him."Lastly, I would say the two different eternal destinies. The Quran is very clear, and let me read from the Quran if you will. Here is the Quran in my hand, and in surat mariam , and surat mariam is surat number19, and in verse 66, "and man says, "When I am dead, shall I then be raised up alive?" And then it ended saying here, "There is not one of you, Muslims. There is not one of you, Muslims, but will pass over hell." I shall repeat, the Quran is telling the Muslims, "There is not one of you, but will pass over hell." This is with your Lord, a decree which must be accomplished. When I read such verses in the Quran, I ask myself this question: why would anyone embrace a religion that will take him to hell? It is very clear, it is a decree that god will accomplish for every Muslim. When you go to the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ said that we have in Him eternal life. "Whoever hears my voice, and believes in me, he has been transformed from this to life." There is eternal life to the Christian. And in the Quran there is a different destination. These are the differences between Christianity and Islam.

yes the same roots Abraham's son Isaac was promised the Messiah and Ismael would establish a great nation, which became true.Unfortunately that's where it ends. The nation established by Ismael went astray guided into darkness by a false prophet.

Maybe because Christianity precedes Islam by hundreds of years. They are related in a sense, but they are clearly not the same. Christians worship Jesus as God, and Muslims do not, although they do honor him as a prophet.

The One True God, The God of Abraham, and Abraham as well, have absolutly nothing to do with the deception of islam. islam is the invention of a petty warlord with delusions of grandure and nothing more... others took it over and exploited others through the sword to continue the attempts to spread enslavement through islam.... there is only one islam and only one quaran... the quaran is islam and islam is the quaran... and the quaran demands all who do not bow to islam be killed... islam is therefore the enemy of all who love freedom.

biggest difference is that we believe that Jesus was a Prophet and they believe he is the son of God. To them this is blasphemy.

Jihad by the way is a way of life in Submission to God. If you pray and if you follow the rules ordained by your God that is jihad in the form of christianity. Even a woman giving birth is doing jihad and if she dies while doing it she is a matyr just like those men who die defending their religion. even in war, jihad is defensive and does not start the aggression
