Of course, we all heard of the 'Be Yourself' thingy... but then again , what if being yourself means that u r being weird?.. It's OK if ppl think u r weird in the funny kind of way.. but what if, they think u r weird in the scary kind of way? Coz i get that a lot... some of the people i meet freak out when they see me... so now i am trying hard to act normal so that i dont appear scary to ppl.. I like Gothic stuff by the way....

To like Gothic is to like something that is threatening to others, and you want to threaten others because you don't feel you have the power to fend others off in more positive ways. You think that the world you live in is against you, and you want it to know you are therefore against it, and that you are not something to be pushed too far.
Here's a news flash: The world wasn't against you except that it didn't know you existed, and didn't care, and by you trying to make it care by threats and intimidation, you have only succeeded in drawing the world's attention in a negative way.
This is one version of a self-fulfilling prophecy. You predict that the world will be against anything you do, and then do the things that make the prediction come true. Try predicting that the world will be amenable to your wishes and ideas, and see if you can make that come true instead.

Well some people act VERY weird to get attention, and sometimes that can be annoying to people, especially if you are always "jumping out" in their face all the time, so to speak. And it can be freaky and scary too, making people wonder if you are "all there".

Yes be 'normal' and settle down a bit and learn to fit in. You need to learn to interact with people without putting on a freak show. Honestly, that stuff might carry you through high school but is not that accepted beyond.

You need to get your self esteem up and know you belong to this world as much as anyone else.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder as is the description of normality. To change who your are for other people is foolish.Yes if your a Gothic or into Gothic stuff you will have a harder time finding a job furthering your education and being promoted in society . so yes in some cases you must adapt to the so called norm but if its just you going out their is no reason to.it is better to have 2 friends that love you how you are for who you are then to hide both and be loved by 20

You know what you should just be yourself, and if people tell you you are too weird that is there problem. Do not be intimidated by what people think of you. Also to be sympathetic I know exactly how you feel as I am also very insecure. But as you learn to get confidence in yourself you learn to care less about what other people think. So be yourself, and those people who think you are weird that is there problem. Forget about them, and live your own life for how you see fit. Remember find who is right for you, and p.s. if you need someone to talk to who will not judge you,and appreciate you for who you are. Contact me at tamond@lycos.com

I see nothing wrong with liking Gothic things. There are people who are just not into it and some think it's satanism. Each person has their own style and their own way of thinking. I believe people should get to know you before passing judgement on you.
I myself have been told that I am weird for a 52 year old grandmother. I wear my make-up like that of a teen-ager. I am also classified as "weird" because I do my own home cures unless it is serious enough to go to a doctor.
My way of thinking may not be the right way but it works for me and I have learned to just let people say what they want and continue with my "normal way" of life. I life life for myself not for others. As long as what you do is not hurting anyone physicially I say continue with what your doing.
Hope this helps in some way.

Just the appearance of a heavily made up Goth is enough to scare a lot of people. Its not "the norm" and people react badly. If its causing you problems then maybe you should tone it down a bit so that it makes life easier for you, we all need social interaction and it sounds like you are having definite problems there.

At least 50% don't think you're weird. That's better than most. So I would say your glass is half full. Even though you may have a screw or 2 loose. Weird is always better than boring.

Well there you go--a lot of people consider Gothic to be weird, in itself--it's a little too "Adams Family."
