I dyed my hair with a medium golden brown from previously dyed black hair, it only turned on my roots so I waited a week and dyed it light golden brown (for dark hair)..now my hair is orange at the roots and STILL black throughout..i want to just dye it back black and leave it alone...i look ridiculous and refuse to go out in public with my hair like this, will my hair fall out if i just dye it back black today? (I dyed it the light golden brown for dark hair last night)

Right. the only things that can go onto black hair are dyes with bleach in them. Hence why only your roots were affected by the golden brown. Its like trying to paint brown watercolour onto black and it not showing up.
It depends on what dye you are using really, but a sachet of black tint (semi permanent) would cover the golden brown without hurting it too much I guess. However you are really damaging your hair doing this.
I would recommend that you either wore a hat, or put some temporary colour on your roots which would be much kinder.

While it may be damaging to the hair, it won't fall out of your head if you color it again. My mother colored her hair 2-3 times a week for decades beacause it was always too light or too dark - the ends of her hair were terribly split and her hair was not as shiny as it could have been, but it never fell out, fried and she never suffered irreversible medical side-effects from it (she just nearly went broke and I regret not buying stock in Clairol !)

What you may want to do, though, is either go to a pro and get it done correctly OR

Go to a beauty supply store and get some color remover - this will remove all existing color and give you a clean palette to work with. If you do black color as your hair is right now, it will look very muddy at the ends and just right at the roots - still not uniform.

Were it me, I would extract $80 from my purse and have a pro remove the current color and get me to a good starting point that I could then maintain.

Good luck

Wait atleast another week or two before you dye your hair again. With this frequent of dying you are killing your hair. Though you may look silly, you need to deal with the color for now. I suggest wearing your hair up, since the mistake is at your roots. After waiting a while, your hair will be ready to be dyed back to its original state.

wait for a week or two, unless you want to be bald, and then have it dyed professionally. If you go to a salon, and I don't mean SuperCuts, an actual salon, and have it dyed, there is less of a chance of them screwing it up. And when you go, be VERY specific, and don't let them talk you into anything.
Mainly, if you don't wait to dye your hair again, it will be damaged pretty badly.
Until then, wear hats.

No your hair shouldn't fall out. I have dyed my hair and stripped it 3 times within a week before. To go from black to another color you need to strip the color out first. That can take you to the color you want or you may have to add color back in.

When you color your hair especially if you are going from dark to light, that you should go in stages. You can't put a color on your hair and just expect it to be that when you are done. Since you are going from black to a lighter color I would make sure that you are deep conditioning you hair and take a bit of time out before re-coloring again.

My best friend was in the same situation as you. Her hair was brown and she wanted to go lighter so she died it on her own and it didn't turn out how she wanted it so she died it again 2 days later. She still wasn't satisfied so she died it again, 3 times in one week! Her hair is fine, the same as it was before. It's not dry or dead. Your hair won't fall off!

No! Stop abusing your hair. Your hair is going to break off and do all sorts of bad things to your head that's going to take a long time to naturally repair itself.

I don't think you should. You could break your hair literally. Just hang on for another five-seven days
