Are there any aftermarket devices installed on your vehicle? (ie remote starts, alarms, aftermarket stereos, etc.) Your symtpoms sound very vague. It could be soemthing as simple as a battery that is weak, or something electrical that is not so simple. Yes, it's true the Ford dealership is pricey compared to taking it to an independent garage, but they are also the most familiar with your vehicle. From the sounds of it, this is definitely a problem that you need to have diagnosed by them if you want any hope of your car being fixed right.

I have a 00 gt and once in awhile it stales when I start it, especially when it is cold or damp, but it has a few after market parts on it. It only does it once in a great while, but I would bring it to a Ford dealer because they usually know what is going on with it. Talk to them first and they might know, that way you know how much it will cost.

You may try going to a parts store like auto zone or somewhere else that will run a OBD-2 tester on it and give you the error codes. They will help you find the problem, so they can sell you the parts.
