Rosanna Pulido, Illinois spokesperson for You Don't Speak for Me, a national coalition of American Hispanics who oppose illegal immigration, states, "Actually Elvira Arellano is a testament to the utter failure of the Mexican government. Because of widespread corruption, the government of Mexico has consistently failed to provide economic opportunity to millions of Mexican people and encourages them to violate U.S. immigration laws. The Mexican government could care less about people like Ms. Arellano. What they are really here to protect is the $23 billion a year that the millions of Mexicans living in the U.S. send home to Mexico," Pulido charged.

I imagine so they can give her more instructions on how to thumb her nose at our laws successfully. At this point I think she should be charged as a terrorist. And a child abuser. However, she is not alone in using her child as a human sheild. It seems to be one of the preferred methods of obtaining citizenship by illegal hispanics. Instead of a green card they hold up their babies and smile and say "US citizen!". I don't think I want values and morals like that.
They can't leave her in that church forever. I think if she gets citizenship or a free pass for breaking our laws there will be all hell to pay. This situation has become too important to both sides now to resolve it peacefully.

This is an article written by someone who is sympathetic towards this woman. He even agrees that this situation is bad for the woman's son. Yet he blames everyone but his mother. But the comments after it are priceless. Not a single person who responded agreed with what it said.

I'd tend to agree with that statement, as well as take issue with the Catholic church aiding and abetting. It bears remembering that at the close of the US/Mexico war, the Catholic church was providing monies on the Mexico side of all of that. My cynical opinion is that they've been fiddling around ever since. But, they're not alone, you have this religious institution, that religious institution, too bad they can't take all their billions and go to Mexico and help build new schools for the kids(and adults) or something....that would, of course, probably solve problems, therefore it's not on their agenda...

"Instead of coming here and posturing for the television cameras back
home, these Mexican legislators could spend their time and energies far
more productively instituting reforms in Mexico that allow people like Ms.
Arellano opportunities at home," Pulido concluded.

Exactly if they are so concerned then they can take her back to Mexico with them. And Mexico demands a full investigation into the shootings in Arizona EXCUSE ME. I demand an investigation into why they believe it's okay for millions of illegals to be in my country and what actions they have taken to stop these illegal actions oh I can answer that nothing. Their actions are not acceptable and they have no right to demand anything.

When they leave they should take her with them. She was already ordered to be deported. Why is she still here?
The only thing these legislators care about is headlines.

I really don't know why. I suspect they may want to coach her regarding what they would like her to say.

I think that Pulido is right in a way, the government is corrupt and doesnt take proper care of its citizens, but the rest is all crap! I think they do care about US/Mexican relations and her family. Pulido is just too disassociated from Mexico and is pretty selfish herself, people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones!
