Women's Soccer Inks Five Student-Athletes for 2007 Season

Head coach Nancy Feldman and the women's soccer team have signed five student-athletes for the 2007 season.BOSTON - The Boston University women’s soccer program has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2007 season. Angelina Cords, Lily Albin, Cynthia Warman, Tiya Gallegos and Brittany Heist will join a BU squad that returns eight starters and finished with a 13-5-3 overall record with an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Joining BU’s stingy backfield is Angelina Cords, a native of Leonardtown, Md. The defender earned St. Mary’s County Player of the Year honors and led her high school to the Maryland State Championship. She earned NSCAA Scholar All-American status and was a two-time high school all-conference first-team honoree. A Washington Post All-Met first-team selection her senior year, she also earned Maryland all-state honors in her junior and senior year.

“Angelina is a very technical defender that maintains possession well,” said associate head coach Dave Bucciero. “She has been playing with the best in the country with the Free State Shooters club team. We expect her to make an immediate impact at BU.”

Lily Albin, of Shoreline, Wash., will also add to the defensive core that held opponents to a 0.64 goals against average. She is a two-time club state champion and has earned high school all-conference first-team honors as a defender. Albin played on the Washington State Olympic Development team and was her high school’s Most Valuable Player.
