Hi, there sure are plenty of islands in the south. If you are keen on visiting every one of them, cater a couple of weeks to do so. On the west coast where Phuket, Krabi, Phangna are, plenty of big and small islands abound, with good dive spot around Phuket and Similan. On the east coast, alongside the bigger Ko Samui and Phangnan, there are other smaller island resorts too.

At Phuket is where you get the major water activities. Even to Krabi or Phangna. So that is sort of origin for activities in the area. There are quite scenic places around there, at the various islands like Lipe as someone mentions, Ko Tao, Ko Yao, Ko Lanta etc etc. So you can find new things to do and explore when you are there.

You should go to Koh Lipe. It is among the most prestine in all of Thailand.

You can take a ferry from a province called Satun. So, you have to get to the pier (forgot the name) and then hop on the ferry.

I heard the water is clear. There are 2 or 3 different islands in the area as well.

They close these islands for a few months in the year. Google it to get more info.

Have fun!

Sound like you need to go to Koh Phi Phi..has all those things that you seek...swimming,snorkling,diving, day trips, kickboxing nights at local bar..lots of resturants...there are prob. twenty or more islands you could go to in Thailand...Koh Chang , Samui,Tao,Phi Phi, Pangnang( full moon party)Samet... the ones on the Krabi side have amazing limestone formations.. great for rock climbing and canoeing etc... Railey is beautiful( not an island but can only be reached by boat so totally cut off from civilization..with amazing beaches and beaut. scenery.. it's near Au Nong...good travels

Aonang and Railay, no longer Islands, yet coastal and on the fringe of Krabi. also, a small island south of Phuket, suggested as Racha, is gorgeous. stay away from Patong sea coast, at the same time as favourite, that is loud and shabby, i understand because I stay the following. people are very outgoing everywhere you bypass. have relaxing! also, initiate engaged on inn reservations about now, it is the very severe season, issues correct off quick.
